Digital Drama are running the commissioning for FilmMerton – an exciting mix of short film, augmented and virtual reality happening in the London Borough of Merton in 2019 and 2020.

We’re looking for ideas for short films that reflect the vibrancy, passions and diversity of people living in Merton. The 4 short film commissions include 2 for established filmmakers and 2 for young filmmakers (aged between 18-25). Each successful applicant will produce a short film celebrating an aspect of life in the London Borough of Merton.

For film lovers, nowhere in the world could be more exciting than Merton in 2019. 100 films will be popping up in secret locations across the whole borough, particularly around the east.
New films will be commissioned and an immersive technologies festival will conclude the unique festival in early 2020.

FilmMerton emerged as an exciting proposal in 2017; winning a Cultural Impact Award from London’s mayor, Sadiq Khan in February 2018. Merton Council has put in the lion’s share of the money and support we need to make it happen. Merton’s newly formed Cultural Advisory Group has worked tirelessly to consult, to dream, to fundraise and get us to this exciting point.
